In 1879  Mary Baker Eddy founded The Mother Church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.
It was the culmination of her great desire to help humanity free itself from suffering,
after experiencing her own healing, and healing many others as well as teaching them
the truths she had discovered. Over 100 years ago this branch of The Mother Church
was established here in Englewood because of the healing of a local businessman.
